Troop Activities

Weekly Meetings

Troop 12 meets every Wednesday night when school is in session from 7:15pm to 9:00pm at the United Methodist Church, 180 West Neck Road, Huntington, NY 11743.  We are proudly chartered by the Halesite Fire Department.

Monthly Campouts

Troop 12 camps throughout the year in a variety of ways.  We go backpacking, we take historical and rafting trips, skiing trips, winter camping and even camping at the beach!

Some of the places we have gone: Camp Hero, Montauk NY - Glen Gray, Mahwah NJ - Camp Pouch/NYC - Harriman St. Pk, Sloatsburg NY - Three Mile River, Narrowsburg NY - Yawgoog, Rockville RI - West Hills Pk, Huntington NY - Baiting Hollow Scout Camp, NY - Fire Island, NY - Alpine Scout Camp, Alpine NJ - Fort Schuyler, Bronx NY - Poconos, PA - Webelos Woods, Huntington NY

Summer Camp

Every summer Troop 12 spends a week at Yawgoog Scout Reservation.  Scouts earn merit badges, complete rank requirements and learn important life skills all while having fun.  The summer camp experience is every scout's favorite memory.

High Adventure

Troop 12 offers older scouts an opportunity to attend each of the BSA's national high-adventure bases.  Philmont Scout Ranch in 2022, Florida Sea Base in 2023 and Northern Tier High Adventure Base in 2024.

Community Service

Troop 12 participates in community service all through the year.  Scouts learn valuable lessons that help them live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.  We take part in ceremonies to honor our veterans, collect supplies for those in need, work on projects to beautify our community or better our environment, just to name a few.

Merit Badges

Troop 12 scouts are able to earn merit badges in a variety of ways, not just at summer camp or through Council or District events.  Many of our leaders our merit badge counselors and offer programs all year long.
